It is the model 2730 of Hamilton Manufacturing Co: Modern Printing Office Furniture, Catalog 15 (1922) and Printing Plant Equipment, Type Storage Section, Catalog 16 (c.1932), and American Type Founders: Specimen (1923). It is model 12730 of Thompson Cabinet Co: Equipment for Printing Plants Catalog 47 (c.1949) and the Thompson 12730-T case of Missouri-Central Type Foundry: Price List (1959). It is also shown by Miller & Richard: Specimens of Book Newspaper Jobbing and Ornamental Types (1894) and still in Printing Type Specimens (1927) and Caslon: Composing Room Equipment (c.1930). It is a double version of the normal U.S. Lower case.
