This Belgian typecase configuration matches the Klein Romein romeyn case (VV 2,6,R 113-O) (undated, but probably pre 1876) on view in the Plantin-Moretus Museum in 1998, and also matches the Plantinian divided lay case drawn by Wortman, in Gaskell: The Lay of the Case, in Bowers: Studies in Bibliography vol 22 (1969). The companion Upper case is Klein Romein Boven. Gaskell's Upper is different, eg Plantin.

Note that there are effectively 3 rows of boxes, unlike U.K. and U.S. cases, which have 3½ rows. Numerals are in the top row, 'lower' case letters and puncuation, ligatures and spacing in the other rows, as shown in Plantin Lower. The case measures 33½ x 14 inches. A very slightly smaller version (VV 2,6,R47-O for Hoogen Tekst) measures 33½ x 13 15/16 inches.

There are several other styles of Onder Kasse on view in the Plantin Museum, eg Middelbarr, Klein Canon, Laagen Ascendonica, Kapitalen, Laagen Tekst.
