The lay is that of the Hamilton case shown in American Type Founders: American Line Type Book (1906) and Specimen (1923), and Barnhardt Bros & Spindler: Book of Type Specimens No.9 (1907) and Hamilton Manufacturing Company: Modern Cabinets, Furniture and Materials for Printers, Catalog 14 (c.1907). It is also in Hague: Textbook of Printing Occupations (1922), and the model 2750 case in Hamilton Manufacturing Co: Modern Printing Office Furniture, Catalog 15 (1922) and Catalog 16 (c.1932) and the model 12750 in Thompson Cabinet Co: Equipment for Printing Plants Catalog 47 (c1949).

The empty Yankee Job also matches that of Barnhart Bros & Spindler: Pony Specimen (1893). Note that there is also a Double Yankee and Two Third Yankee version (although this is often called a Two Third California).
