| Here is the ideal place not only to see what is possible with letterpress, but to acquire some of the means of doing it. Talk to other printers, ask advice, swap stories over a cup of coffee. There will be type, paper, furniture, and other printing sundries for sale, and a good representation of LETTERPRESS printing, with not only books, but some highly original work, including affordable Posters, Broadsides, and Cards. There may even be items for free. The School is on the A40, on the Cheltenham side of Burford. Entry is free, and there is ample parking. The Hall is on the ground floor, and has room for 40 stalls. Tables for stall holders are 6ft x 2ft, and the charge for exhibitors is £20 unless you bring your own table, in which case the charge is only £10. All cheques should be made out to the Oxford Guild of Printers and sent to Louisa Hare at Old Park Cottage, Winderton Road, Lower Brailes, OX15 5JB Burford is on the Eastern edge of the Cotswolds 20 miles West of Oxford, and is a clasically beautiful Cotswold Market town on the River Windrush. Nearby attractions include a Wildlife Park, which among its very varied inhabitants includes a large family of Meercats. On the edge of the town is a gigantic Garden centre. Walking along the Windrush is easy and exceptionally beautiful and will lead you to such places as Swinbrook and Minster Lovell. |
