Empty Jobbing Double Case

This English typecase configuration matches the Jobbing Double Case in Miller & Richard: Specimens of Book Newspaper Jobbing and Ornamental Types (1894) and still in Printing Type Specimens (1927), and available in both English and Scotch sizes. Unlike their Improved Double, the case has fewer lower case boxes.

The case has three bays, with the left and centre bay for lower case, totalling 46 boxes, and the right for upper case, totalling 35 boxes. Note that the upper case bay comprises five rows of seven boxes, with four of the rows having larger boxes, whereas their Ordinary Double case has seven rows, all of the same size, as did their 1873 pricelist. The 'Californian' style of case, eg California Job, similarly has five rows, with three of these having larger boxes. Note also Miller & Richard's Improved Double case, with six rows of seven boxes, three rows being a larger size.
