This typecase construction has 51 boxes and is shown by Smith, The Printer's Grammar (1755), and by Luckombe: The History and Art of Printing (1771). The later Stower case of 1808 no longer subdivides the box above the e box, nor does it have the two sigma boxes, and it reduces the four small boxes next to sigma, to become just two boxes. The box above the these two boxes becomes one box, whereas Smith has two for the two forms of theta. However, the adjacent box (ie top right corner) is one box for phi, whereas Stower has a divided box. Also, the box to the left of tau in the bottom row is divided by Smith for ypsilon and an alternative tau, whilst Stower has a single box.

Smith's Greek Upper case uses the normal 49 plus 49 box construction of Moxon et al.
