This typecase configuration matches the Spanish Lower case shown in Lockwood: American Dictionary of Printing and Bookmaking (1894), as in use for the Spanish-American market. There are three extra boxes in the right hand bay, as compared with the normal U.S. Lower case. The companion upper uses a normal Upper case. The actual lay of the type is Boston Spanish Lower.
