This U.S. configuration is shown in Hamilton Manufacturing Company: Modern Cabinets, Furniture and Materials for Printers Catalog No. 14, c. 1907. It is described as an improved case of great value, compared to their Unimproved one, even though that was still being advertised by Hamilton in 1932, and even by Thompson in 1949.
