This French case configuration matches the Casseau Inferieau des Caracteres Vulgaires of Fertel: La Science Practique de l'Imprimerie (1723, reprinted Gregg 1971). It differs slightly from Diderot's case of 1751 as it has a divided box at the bottom left (for y and x), and does not divide the box above the d box. Both cases have 54 boxes, as does Castillon's of 1783, although that case configuration differs even more, as it has only 6 rows of boxes, rather than 7.
The lay of the case is Fertel, and the companion Upper is Casse Superieure.
