This typecase construction is a Scottish Ordinary Double Case made by Marr Type Co, and in use at the Alembic Press in 1974 and still in 2009. The Press also has a version by Miller & Richard with nine rows, rather than seven rows in the upper case (right hand) section. Note that as well as having a different box arrangement in the lower case bays, Scottish cases are slightly larger than their English counterparts, being 35 x 15 ins rather than 32½ x 14½ ins.

The Scottish Improved Double Case differs only in having 5 rows of boxes in the upper case section, rather than 7 rows.
