Improved New York Job Case

This U.S. lay is of the New York Improved Job Case model 2745 shown in Hamilton Manufacturing Co: Modern Printing Office Furniture Catalog 15 (1922) and Printing Plant Equipment, Type Storage Section, Catalog 16 (c.1932) and model 12745 in Thompson Cabinet Co: Equipment for Printing Plants, Catalog 47 (c.1949) and 12745-T in Missouri-Central Type Foundry Catalog 1959-1960. Note that Hamilton in 1932 show % in the box that Thompson, Missouri-Central, and the 1922 Hamilton have blank, and that the 1932 Hamilton also has @ where the others have £. Whilst this case has the upper case (right hand) bay with one row of small boxes, three rows of large boxes, and one row of small boxes, the same New York Job case shown earlier by American Type Founders: American Line Type Book (1906) and American Typefounders Co: Catalogue (1923), has only one row of small boxes, and four rows of large boxes. Also, in the bottom row, the ; box is sometimes smaller than the . box underneath it, and sometimes the same size, although the x and q boxes always remain the same size.

The empty case configuration is the Imp New York Job case. There is a Two Third version of the case, which omits the right hand bay. Also, if the top two rows (for small caps and ligatures) are omitted and the 5 rows of caps boxes reduced in size, the case is the same as Hamilton's California Job case.
