This English layout is one in use at the St Bride Foundation Printing Workshop in 2015, and came from Central Saint Martins (University of the Arts, London). It is effectively the same as another Central Saint Martins lay, except that the case here is the six upper case row pattern, rather than seven. It is very close to the lay that was used by Southern College of Art in the 1970s, and Heffers of the same period. However, in each case some of the spacing moves from one box to another. For example, St Bride put thick above the i box, whereas Heffer put thins there, and Southern College of Art put mids. Indeed, St Bride have now amended their lay to put mids above i and thicks below h.

The actual typecase construction matches, for example, that of the Caslon 1897, Stephenson Blake 1922, Harrild 1970 etc. Improved Double Case, distinguished by the six rows of boxes in the right hand (upper case) bay.
