This U.S. typecase configuration is shown by Cleveland Type Foundry, Catalogue and Price List of Type and Material, 1893, and is a two-third size version of a standard Upper case. The case dimensions are not given, but most two-third cases are 22 3/4 x 16 5/8 ins. There is a companion Two Third News Lower case. A later version of the News Upper case, with the three central rows larger than the others, is shown by American Type Founders Catalogue of 1923, and by others.
