This information is taken from Monotype Technical Bulletins 51 and 78, the Monotype Book of Information 1970, various Monotype Caster and Super Caster Manuals, Monotype's leaflet on Casting Good Type, and drawings at the Type Archive. Monotype nozzles are for either a narrow (7/8") or wide (1¼") pump body. Height in inches is from top to base, ignoring the length of the screw section. Drill diameters for holes, and lower hole lengths, are shown in inches, and then in millimetres (the machine drawings show 0.125 instead of 0.120, 0.070 instead of 0.062, etc). Serial numbers are H for composition and type & rule casters, and SH for super caster. Casting sizes are given in point size, but include Didot, e.g. 9pt is also 9D. Go to Alembic Monotype for other Monotype information available from the Alembic Press. | |||||||||||
