This Spanish typecase lay is shown by Sicluna in Teoría y Práctica de la Tipografía (1944), as the current model. It differs from Morato's case (1933) in having one less box in the top left row of the lower case, and one extra box in the second row up from bottom right. Also, the accents, figures and ligatures are in different rows, and for example the j and k in a different position. Note the position of h and i and w, compared to English lays.

The box with ¦ represents a single dagger. The o a are superiors. The spacing boxes are for espacios gordos (gruesos), finos, medios, cuadratins, cuadrados. The empty case is Caja Española.
