This U.S case is shown in Hamilton Manufacturing Co, Catalog (1897) illustrated in Pryor, History of the California Job Type Case, in Printing Historical Society Journal No.7 (1972). It is also shown, as Jumbo Job, by American Type Founders, Pacific Coast Blue Book: Specimens of Type, Printing Machinery, Printing Material (1896) and as Dearing Job by American Type Founders, American Line Type Book (1906), Barnhardt Bros & Spindler, Book of Type Specimens No.9 (1907), Hamilton Manufacturing Company, Modern Cabinets, Furniture and Materials for Printers, Catalog 14 (c.1907) and Modern Printing Office Furniture, Catalog 15 (1922) and Printing Plant Equipment, Type Storage Section, Catalog 16 (c1932), and Thompson Cabinet Co, Equipment for Printing Plants, Catalog 47 (c.1949). The case was also made in three quarter size (26½ x 16⅝ inches) and Two-Third (21¾ x 16⅝ inches) in the same configuration as the full-size case (32¼ x 16⅝ inches).

The type lay is the Jumbo Job of ATF 1896 or Dearing Job of Hamilton 1897. Note the pattern of the capitals bay, ie 1 short row and four tall rows - called the California pattern by Hamilton.
