This U.S. layout is shown in Hamilton Manufacturing Company: Modern Cabinets, Furniture and Materials for Printers Catalog 14, c. 1907. It was designed to save floor space and time in correcting Monotype matter, with a sloping space rest for a galley built in, and with the distance the compositor's hand had to travel reduced to a minimum.

The case is for l.c. and figures, etc., and the type lay is Monotype Correcting.
